Can you remember where you were on Coronation Day.
I can recall that I had a day off school and that's about it!
These are some of the Findon school lasses decked in garb from the first Elizabethan Age to mark the commencement of Queen Elizabeth II's reign.
Second from the left is Jean Anscombe. Third from the left is Jennifer Mitchell. The girl on the far right is Ann Mustchin and second from right is Shelia Cunningham.
In September 2011 I received some fascinating photographs of over half a century ago taken at the school in Findon....
"Hi Valerie....I attach pictures of fancy dress
for the Coronation at Findon School in 1953. I am sorry but I cannot identify
the girl standing next to me on the left. Maybe someone will put a name to the
face.
Look forward to meeting you walking the girls. My pup is now 17 weeks so we
are getting out and about further these days.

Below
is another photograph of Findon children taken in 1953 so I guess it has
something to do with the celebration of the crowning of Queen Elizabeth II. This
one I received from Nellie Heard (ex-Findondian) later in Guildford, Surrey. She
wrote ....
"The picture of the Findon children was taken in 1953. The fairy on the left at the top of it is my daughter, Janice. She was born in 1948 and was 5 years old at the time".
