MORE NORGATE FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHS

At the end of March 2010 I was pleased to heard from Deborah Norgate sharing lots of fascinating shepherding photographs with us all.....

"My name is Deborah Norgate Shep Norgate was my Grandfather. My father was Arthur Norgate, Arthur died two years ago and we came across these photographs,

Please find attached photographs that we thought you might be interested".

What super portrayals of the old Findon shepherds.   I immediately asked Deborah if she had any idea which shepherd was depicted in each one.     I did not recognise the old barn as being in Findon and Deborah could not give any idea as to its location either.

"So pleased you liked the photos.

They are Shep and Tom Humfries about 1940 we think Dogs are Lassie and Jonny

Tolmare is the pond along Longfurlong again we think about 1935

Shep with the two dogs is Church Hill High Salvington.

Shep on his own 1961 taken by me !!!

I think thats the best my sister and I can do !      Deborah"

Lawrie May from Antigua, West Indies emailed to say..."Hi Valerie !    Shepherd Photos...

Pleased to see Deborah Norgate's photos of shepherds and dogs. Of course the Norgates and their dogs were well known in the village, my father was convinced that the dog "John" could understand what ever Mr Norgate was saying to him and was once sent back to the hills as the flock he'd brought down was one short !"
