SHOOTING PARTY MYSTERY

Copyright Valerie Martin 2008

This is an on-going puzzle that we are as yet unable to solve.   In January 2008, John J. Fisher in Worthing emailed to say he had a brand new mysterious photograph for us to all get our teeth into.    He wrote....

"The two attached photographs were found after my mother died. Probably taken 1945 to 1950.

My father is on the right in both pictures.     He would go shooting on his own but sometimes in the company of friends one of whom owned the local shooting rights. The other four gentlemen are probably Findon residents.

As the photo is about 60 years old those of us able to put names to faces are now 70 plus. So, anyone out there no the answer?"

The first clue was the clump of trees in the background and it was unanimously agreed by all surfers that the site was Tolmare Farm.

It was also guessed that the large rabbit that had been shot was, in fact, a hare.

Unfortunately, there was much controversy when putting names to the shooters (other than John's father) and no one did a positive identity..... so the question is still open..... were they Findon residents and if so, who were they?
