THE PARK BROW DEW-POND

One July evening in 2002 I discovered a restored dew-pond that until then I did not know existed. This is the one at the southern end of Park Brow —

Looking south. Cissbury Ring is in the background. Lychpole Farm is peeping round the corner of the hillside below the Iron Age Fort. The Park Brow dew-pond is rather magnificent. |
Alas, by March 2004 the dew-pond I had described as magnificent had vanished and there was just an indentation in the ground and crops were growing over the site. What a good job I took photographs of another bit of Findon history before it disappeared.
I do not know who re-constructed the dew-pond, nor why it was left uncared for and allowed to disappear forever.
Visiting the site again in May 2010, the dew-pond was still a shadow of it's former self.
