THE ELUSIVE WINDMILL

My search continues into the millennium. Has anyone seen an early nostalgic photograph or sketch of the elusive Findon Windmill in its heyday — or even in a state of dereliction?

As yet, Findon Windmill seems to have been the only mill that was not photographed — can anyone help to prove this wrong?  I am going round in circles!!!!

Can YOU be the first to help me find me a photograph of Findon windmill, or even a pencil sketch during its lifetime, to put on my website?

Please do not confuse the old Findon Windmill with that on the southern slopes of Cissbury Ring.  The picture shows this particular Windmill and miller's cottage just to the south of Findon as it was in 1893. 

This windmill was also confusingly known as Offington Mill and I believe Broadwater Mill during it's lifetime.   

One morning in February 2005 I slogged up the downland to the old Findon Windmill site...

As we approached the Mill House, I couldn't believe my eyes..... had I been transported back in time?   For clearly the building on the horizon could be the resurrection of the old Findon Windmill above the Findon Gallops....

Let's look a bit closer....

No, it's part of a building programme that has been going on for months at the Mill House and is still in progress.   Those on site have told me that it includes a glass observation tower situated very near to the original windmill site.
